Why we’re naming roads after prominent Deltans- Uroye
Transition Committee Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Dr. Augustine Uroye says his administration resolved to name major roads in Warri after the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, the National President of Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayodele Joseph Oritsejafor, the member representing Warri Federal Constituency at National Assembly, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Otumara and others because of their immense contribution towards the development of Warri.
Dr. Uroye gave the explanation shortly after unveiling pictorial sign posts mounted in strategic axis along major roads in Warri in honour of the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Hon. Daniel Reyeineju, Dr. Joseph Otumara and Chief Tunde Smooth.
The Warri South Council boss who described the personalities, whose names were named after the roads as worthy ambassadors of the local government, noted that the main essence of the exercise is to immortalize prominent Deltans that have impacted positively on the areas as well as spur others to contribute towards the development of Warri.
While the Ogunu fly-over axis through the Angle Park Junction stretch of Ogunu road was named after the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, the NPA Old Port gate through the New Port gate was named after three- time Chairman of Warri South local government and present Delta State Commissioner for health, Dr. Joseph Sisanmi Otumara.
Dr. Uroye who was flanked by his Vice, Mr. Dafe Ikpuri and other members of the Warri South Council Transition Committee also inspected sections of the Warri City Stadium billed to host the flag- off of the polio eradication programme by the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan on Thursday September 26, 2013.
He commended the state governor for choosing Warri South local government for the polio eradication programme flag-off and noted that his administration has fully mobilized people in the area as well as health institutions to ensure success of the programme.
The Warri South Chairman enjoined residents of Warri to come out enmasse to attend the flag-off programme so as to support the state government in its resolve to ensure polio free Delta State.
