A Chieftain of All Progressive Congress, APC, Honourable Osagie Edosonmwan says the newly registered APC is not a merger party but a metamorphose of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.
According to him, Edo State has never had more than two party system, particularly after the 2012 governorship election where all the political parties merged with the then ruling ACN. “It is the same party which is metamorphosing into another stage, so there is no need for some persons to be over- heating the polity as if there is going to be a 3rd world war, we have seen these kind of transition before, though there was no issuance of new certificate”, he averred.
Honourable Edosonmwan noted that there could be a reason to improve on the new party but advised other leaders to tread carefully in order not to miss out the main objective of the newly registered APC.
The APC Chieftain also advised members of the party who are clamouring for a congress and fresh elections into elective positions in the party to be wary of the implication as there might be no need for conducting such elections now so as not to cause much distortion. “It is the same people that fought for the party all along that are holding positions, so they should be left to still carry this new party to the height we wish,” he opined.
