Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Youth Matters, Comrade Jude Imagwe says government alone cannot employ all youths in the country, charging youths to develop themselves if they must become relevant and self reliant.
Comrade Imagwe made the assertion at the maiden edition of Delta Youth Frontiers, DYF, Youth Summit held at the Nigerian Labour Congress Secretariat at Asaba, Delta State.
While noting that there are so many youths with certificates that are not working, the President's aide advised youths to acquire skills in addition to their certificates so as to make themselves self reliant and relevant. According to him, youths must begin to assist their fellow young people and see how they can project and lift those at the top higher.
He said the youths should see themselves as the solution to Nigeria's problems, think differently from people who failed as well as "dream Nigeria" at all times.
Delta State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Ebifa Ijomah , in a remark advised youths not to make themselves available for political thuggery, stressing that politicians will use and dump them as soon as they finish using them as thugs to rig elections.
The Commissioner, who noted that the oil largesse is fast diminishing, called on youths to begin to think beyond oil and concentrate their energies on areas such as agriculture as well as refrain from all forms of social vices that will truncate the stability of the state.
