Exclusive: Robbers kill policeman in morning ambush of bank officials

A dare devil early morning raid by armed robbers at Mudiaga Junction along Okumagba Avenue close to the ever busy Robinson Plaza in the heart of Warri Monday November 18 has left a mobile policeman dead and two officials  of a microfinance bank, Wetland Micro Finance Bank critically injured, Fresh Angle can authoritatively report.

Reports from Okumagba Avenue and officials of the affected bank, Wetland Micro Finance Bank say the unidentified policeman ostensibly attached to the bank was escorting the bank officials with an alleged N 10 million they were conveying to Wetland Micro Finance bank supposedly from another bank for the day’s business when the armed robbers ambushed them at Mudiaga Junction very close to Robinson Plaza, shooting directly on the bank’s vehicle and immediately killed the mobile policeman who appeared to have resisted their raid which eye witnesses say lasted for about 30 minutes.

Fresh Angle also gathered from inside sources within the bank that an official of the bank by the name Joseph was reportedly shot on his stomach and was rushed to the theatre of a nearby hospital, while his female colleague who was also in the cash- carrying vehicle was allegedly shot in one of her arms.

The raid which left people in the scene to scamper for safety and other officials of the bank in apparent fear was carried out successfully without any form of resistance by security operatives attached to other banks within the scene.

Meanwhile, a group of armed robbers on Saturday November 16 at about 11pm shot and killed a member of their gang at Merogun road by Nigeria Dredging and Marine Limited also in Warri.

Our Correspondent reports that the armed robbers after killing their member took some money and other valuables from him.

It was gathered that the money is part of what they stole together which the late armed robber wanted to enjoy alone.
