The Oba of Benin in Edo State, His Royal Majesty, Omo N' Oba N' Edo, Uku-Akpolokpolo, Ewuare 2 says his visit to the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli will explore more factors that bind Benin and Warri Kingdoms together, Fresh Angle International can report.
The Benin Monarch gave the assurance Saturday July 14 at the Olu Palace, Warri during a 'thank-you visit’ to the Olu in Warri, Delta State.
While noting that his visit is to further bring close affinity between Benin and Itsekiri ethnic groups, the Oba of Benin urged both ethnic groups to continually develop factors that encourage harmony and cultural unity among Itsekiri and Benin, adding that they both share lot of things in common.
He commended the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli for championing peaceful coexistence among Itsekiri people as well as their neighbours and for helping to attract development to Warri Kingdom.
Earlier in his remark, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli noted that Warri Kingdom is an extension of Benin Kingdom.
While describing the Oba of Benin’s visit as fatherly, the Warri Monarch recalled that 37 years ago, Omo N' Oba N' Edo Erediauwa visited the departed Olu of Warri, Erejuwa 2.
Ogiame Ikenwoli noted that geopolitical boundaries that have been set for the convenience of governance of Nigeria cannot separate both Kingdoms from their ancestral link, assuring that Itsekiri and Benin Kingdoms will remain united.
High point of the visit was the presentation of gifts to the Oba of Benin who was also accompanied by the Crown Prince of Benin Kingdom, other children, grandchildren, Chiefs of Benin Kingdom and Enoghies.

Daniel Mayuku, member representing Itsekiri ethnic Nationality in the Board of DESOPADEC, Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan, the Commander 371 Nigeria Airforce, Warri, Air Commodore Yakubu Daniel, and the Commander, Nigeria Army Effurun were among prominent persons that graced the historic occasion.
