Itsekiri students get new leadership

A four hundred level Law Student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma in Edo State, Otaru Moses has emerged the new National President of National Association of Itsekiri Students, NAIS, Fresh Angle International can report.

Otaru Moses scored 19 votes to defeat Tuoyo Jolomi of Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, who polled one vote in the election held Saturday February 4 at Rewane Villa in Warri, Delta State.

Our Correspondent reports that the only other position that had contenders was that of secretary, which saw Umewe Weyinmi Henry of the Department of Statistics, Federal Polytechnic, Auchi scoring 15 votes to defeat Efe Izuagie of University of Port-Harcourt, who polled five votes.        

Positions such as Vice President, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Welfare, PRO, Director of Socials, Provost and Coordinator (Northern) were returned un-opposed because only one candidate indicated interest in each of them.

Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Comrade Ejueyitsi Esimaje Richard who spoke to Fresh Angle International after the polls, explained that the decision to shift the venue of the election from Otsoron Primary School, Egbokodo to Rewane Villa in the heart of Warri was due to security reason.

He noted that 26 delegates from tertiary institutions of learning across Nigeria participated in the election, which produced a new 10-man executive that will pilot the affairs of Itsekiri students for the next one year.

Other members of the new NAIS executive are: Norman Nora- Vice President,

Gbofor Odeworitse-Financial Secretary, Akra Anirejuoritse Bridget -Treasurer, Okimiji Juliet-Welfare, Daibo Eworitsemogha-PRO, Onuwaje-Director of Socials, Oritsemeyiwa Banro-Provost and Oritsemeyiwa Robert -Coordinator, Northern.
