Agbateyiniro dissects components of Sheriff Care Programme, says over 5,000 have benefitted

The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, has outlined major components of the Sheriff Care Programme, initiated by his administration, saying over 5,000 persons have benefited in the last 2years.

The Warri South Local Government Chief Executive, who spoke to Fresh Angle International, Tuesday July 21 in an exclusive telephone chat, explained that the Sheriff Care Programme, encompasses educational-support initiatives, zero-interest micro credit loans, financial largesse for petty traders, welfare-driven support and environmental sanitation.

According to Comr. Agbateyiniro, the Sheriff Care Programme, which was derived from the federal government’s NG Care programme and the D-CARES Programme of Delta State Government, have so far impacted the lives of 450 widows and People living With Disabilities, PWDs and 300 aged persons, including 30 retirees from Warri South Local Government Council.

He noted that inclusion of retirees from the Council, was in-line with his administration’s policy to ease the financial burdens of the retirees.

Whilst disclosing that twenty thousand naira bursary, have been paid to 2,000 students in tertiary institutions in the last two academic sessions, the Warri South Local Government Boss, mentioned enrolment of pupils for the First School Leaving Certificate Examination in all 38 public primary schools in Warri South Local Government Area, enrolment of students for WAEC, NECO and UTME Examinations in the past 2years, award of university scholarship to Ebule Oritsemeyiwa Precious of Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE, payment of two million, one hundred and thirty-nine thousand naira (N2,139,000.00) school fess for McCarthy Oritsetseyigbemi Jessy, presentation of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000.00) to Adekunle Oluwasegun David, a young saxophonist and payment of monthly stipend of seventy-seven thousand naira (N77,000.00) to Mr. Jolly Omatie, who has been a volunteer teacher for several years in the riverine Ukpotiki Primary School, Ukpokiti, as the education component of the Sheriff Care Programme.

Comr. Agbateyiniro, stated that the gifting of fifty thousand naira each to four hundred petty traders, cutting across twenty traders in each of the 20 DSIEC wards, to enhance their trade, one hundred million naira revolving loan to traders, spread across ten different markets in Warri, with each market receiving ten million naira, make up the human capital development component of the Sheriff Care Programme, as driven by Councilors representing the 20 DSIEC wards.

Engagement of 100 sweepers, for daily cleanup of major roads and streets in Warri as well as appointment of 50 environmental taskforce, apart from infrastructural constituency projects, is another section of the Sheriff Care Programme.
