Olisa hosts Ashaka Youth Council, reaffirms commitment to Youth Empowerment And Community Development In Ndokwa

The Member representing Ndokwa ethnic nationality on the Governing Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Dr. Charles Olisa, KSM, JP, on Saturday, July 25, 2026 hosted the Interim Executive Committee of the Ashaka Youth Council (AYC) to a breakfast meeting focused on deepening youth engagement and promoting inclusive development across Ndokwa communities.

The delegation reflected the broad-based and inclusive structure of the Ashaka Youth Council, drawing representatives from the community's three traditional age grades—Otu Onuogbe, Otu Orire, and Otu Agbikor.

Responding to their speech, Dr. Olisa reiterated the unwavering commitment of the DESOPADEC Governing Board under the leadership of the Board Chairman, Olorogun Barr. John Nani and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Chief Festus Ochonogor to the execution of transformative projects across all mandate areas.

He assured the youths that the Commission would continue to expand its human capital development programmes, social investment initiatives, and youth empowerment schemes aimed at equipping young people with the skills and opportunities needed for self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.

"The Board remains focused on delivering projects that directly improve the lives of our people. Our commitment is fully aligned with the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Government, which places the welfare, empowerment, and prosperity of Deltans at the centre of governance," Dr. Olisa stated.

Dr. Olisa further emphasized that DESOPADEC's ongoing interventions in healthcare, education, road infrastructure, rural electrification, potable water supply, and youth empowerment are strategic contributions toward the realization of the MORE Agenda in oil-producing communities across the State.

Speaking on behalf of the Council earlier, Comrade Obiajulu had commended Dr. Olisa for his accessibility, visionary leadership and effective representation on the DESOPADEC Governing Board, noting that under the Commission's current leadership, communities within the DESOPADEC mandate areas in Ndokwa have continued to benefit from impactful human capital development initiatives, social intervention programmes and critical infrastructure projects.

The youth body reaffirmed its unwavering support for DESOPADEC, the Delta State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori and the Federal Government led by His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. 

The Council also pledged its readiness to collaborate with government and the Commission in sustaining peace, promoting unity, and accelerating grassroots development.

The meeting concluded with prayers for enduring peace, unity and sustainable development in Ashaka, the Ndokwa Nation, Delta State, and Nigeria as a whole.

Held in a warm and interactive atmosphere, the meeting brought together the leadership of the Ashaka Youth Council, led by its Acting President, Comrade Ferdinand Obiajulu. Other members of the delegation included Obija Ndudi (Vice President); Mr. Anthony Ojimini (Provost I); Ossai Faith S.
