Amai, Obiaruku Crisis: Our efforts amount to pouring water on rock-Police

Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Zanna M. Ibrahim says efforts by the Police Command in Delta State to end the lingering Amai/Eziokpor/ Ezionum/Umuebu and Obiaruku communities crisis has so far amounted to pouring water on a hard rock.

The Police Boss who dropped the hint Thursday June 22 at Asaba during a press briefing, said the crisis have somewhat become an annual ritual, particularly at the commencement of every new farming season.

According to him, the Command has severally convened meetings to broker peace among the warring communities, but the crisis “have continued unabated in the act of kidnapping, murder and other unpardonable excesses in-spite of the repeated appeals, both from the security forces and the State Government”.

CP Zanna also stated that a lot of successes have been recorded in the fight against cultism as a result of the efforts of the Special Anti-Cultism Unit created by the Command to curtail the menace of cultism and other cult-related crimes in the State.
