Hon. Thomas Ibukun Emami

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC and former Deputy Leader of Warri South -West Legislative Arm, Hon. Thomas Emami has hit hard on critics of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the President's comment on Nigerian youths is fact “that was politically twisted and embraced by lazy people”.

Emami posited, “President Buhari's comment which states inter-alia that more than 60 percent of the population is below the age of 30. A lot of them have not been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria has been an oil producing country, therefore should sit and do nothing and get housing, healthcare and education free, does not in any way “imply that most Nigerian youths are lazy, but living under illusion, whereas some of the biggest economies in the world like Germany and the Asian tigers are not producers of crude oil”.

The former lawmaker who noted that despite ex-Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan's advocacy of Delta beyond oil in the past, some youths in the Niger Delta indulge in illegal bunkering and pipeline vandalism which result in degradation of the environment “because of the believe in quick wealth, instead of investing their time in creative ventures”.

While declaring that the Senate has no right to suspend Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for 90 legislative days as alluded to by Femi Falana, “especially against the backdrop of pending court decision”, Hon. Emami thanked the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli for “his royal presence during the recent commissioning of the multi-million naira Ugborodo Community Town Hall built by SPDC”.
