There is no government in Bayelsa—Lokpobiri

The All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship hopeful, Senator (Dr.) Heineken Lokpobiri, has said that 'there is no government in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State'.

Sen. Lokpobiri who made the statement while officially informing the State chapter of the party executive of his intention to contest for the governorship under the platform of the party in Yenagoa, said that the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, clearly stated that the primary responsibility of government is the security and welfare of the people, stressing that if there is no security and welfare then the people can judge whether there is a government or not.

He said, the APC must take over Bayelsa State so that they can give a strategic new direction to develop and build an economy beyond oil and gas on a sustainable basis.

To achieve this, Senator Lokpobiri appealed to the APC family to disprove Governor Henry Seriake Dickson who earlier made a statement that at the end of the primaries APC will be divided.

“I appeal to you our State Exco to do every thing humanly possible to ensure that we remain united to win the election in November 16, 2019”.

He assured the Exco that if the party can work together we will have a peaceful primary and remain united at the end of the day awaiting the tsunami that will happen in the PDP.

Senator Lokpobiri promised to run an issue based campaign to win the election for the benefit of the Bayelsa masses.

Our Bayelsa State Correspondent reports that Lokpobiri at the ocassion declared his campaign office open for the general public to show his seriousness.
