The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has described education as a tool for socialization, recognition and advancement of the society.

 

Our Oyo State Correspondent reports that Engr. Makinde made the declaration Thursday September 5, during the commissioning of a Model School in Oyo town, to mark is 100days in office.

 

According to the governor, the major responsibility of government is to ensure that quality and free basic education is provided for school-age children.

 

“It is also pertinent to remind everyone here present, that an idle hand is the devils workshop, which implies that if these children's welfare is not considered, they may eventually turnout to become threats to the peace and security of our society.

 

It is worthy to mention that the present administration is not oblivious of the fact that childhood is filled with natural wonders and curiosity and learning environment must reflect a classroom and outdoor space that inspire a sense of wanting to investigate and explore.

 

This was what necessitated the need to embark on a project like this, which will enable our children explore both for their natural and social environment”, Engr. Makinde stressed.

 

 

Fresh Angle International can report that dignitaries present at the occasion included Deputy Governor of the State, Engr. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan, the State SUBEB Chairman, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, Commissioner for Education, Mr. Dawud Sangodoyin, Head of Service, Alhaja Lolade Agboola and the Chairman, State Advisory Council, Hon. Hosea Agboola.
