NDDC Board: Don’t ignore Rita Lori-CNGG tells Buhari, Senate

The Concerned Nigerians for Good Governance, CNGG, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Senate not to ignore the position of Chief Rita Lori-Ogbebor as it affects the newly constituted membership of the board of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, saying those advocating that Chief Lori-Ogbebor be ignored, “do not know the gravity of their unguarded statements and ethnic chauvinism”.

The group stressed, “it is not enough to grandstand in the public domain, because of stomach infrastructure and denying others of their rightful dues, privileges and benefits”.

The Concerned Nigerians for Good Governance, CNGG, which cautioned the National Assembly against confirming the Managing Director-designate of NDDC, Mr. Bernard Okumagba, appealed to the National Assembly and President Buhari to reverse the perceived injustice and “do the needful for the sake of equity, justice, fairness and peaceful co-existence”.

Chairman of the CNGG, Mr. Omorodion Nosakhare in-company of the Secretary, Mr. Omabegho Mathew during a chat with newsmen in Warri, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently take steps to correct the anomaly in the appointments, saying, “it contradicts the letter and spirit of the 2017 NDDC Act, as amended, with respect to oil production quantum and alphabetical order principles”.

“There are eminently qualified Itsekiri persons in Delta South and specifically the Itsekiri axis that produces the highest quantum of crude oil in the state. Itsekiri axis also produces the second highest crude oil resources in Nigeria through which huge revenue accrues to the country. It is the turn of the Itsekiri Nation and anything shot of this is an invitation to chaos”, CNGG warned.

While stating that everyone is entitled to advance reasons why the perceived aberration of Benard Okumagba’s appointment could be germane to them, CNGG averred, “when the chips are down, the chickens would come home to roost and the folly of the wrong appointment and confirmation, if it eventually sail through, will dawn on all Nigerians, because we are tired of being relegated to the background in the country, where we produce the goose that lays the golden egg”.
