Concerns are mounting in Delta State, following strong signs that the 44-year old popular Udu Bridge, may collapse if urgent repair works on the bridge is not carried out by the Federal Ministry of Works, Fresh Angle International can authoritatively report.

The Udu Bridge, which was reportedly constructed between 1973 and1975, records massive human and vehicular traffic daily as it serves a major link between the densely populated Uvwie and Udu Local Government Areas in oil and gas-rich Delta State.

Our Senior Correspondent reports that sprawling sub-urban such as Orhuwhorun, Otor Udu, Otu-Jeremi in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Ogbe-Udu, Okwagbe and Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri South -West Local Government Area, are some of the major towns the collapsing Udu Bridge, connects.

Some commuters and road users, including a travel agent, Mr. Tony Amaete, who spoke exclusively to Your Soaring International Tabloid, expressed dismay over the lack of attention given to the Udu Bridge by the relevant government agencies, decades after its construction.

They stressed the need for the Federal and Delta State Governments to immediately collaborate, with a view to re-construct the bridge, stating that carrying out palliatives would amount to waste of resources and endanger the lives of people.
