Ahead Delta LG Polls: Okumane counsels youths against being used as tools for election rigging

A peace crusader, Comrade Michael Okumane hasenjoined youths to avoid being used as tools for rigging the forthcoming localgovernment election in Delta State.

This charge was given by Comrade MichaelOkumane of the Justice Development and Peace Commission, JDPC, during a townhall meeting organized by AA Peace Works.

According to him, youths should watch out forpoliticians trying to induce them with money so as to get their votes. ComradeOkumane who was speaking on the topic; “how to conduct a peaceful localgovernment election in Delta State” stressed thatyouths should not allow themselves to be used as thugs “because they are thestrength of the country”.

One of the Co-ordinators of the programme,Mr. Ajulisan Akumagba challenged youths to rise up against anybody theyconsider not credible enough to contest the local government election.

In his contribution, President of Niger DeltaPeace Assembly, Ogbomo Onoriode advised Deltans to shun ethnicity and embracecredibility of candidates.

Other Co-ordinators and resource persons, Mr.Pius Iyowhose and Jahswill Edeh spoke on how youths can make effective use ofthe social media.

Mr. Ajulisan Akumagba revealed that AA PeaceWorks will soon set up a free centre for youths to sharpen their reading andwriting skill.

Highpoint of the town hall meeting was theteaching of youths on how to browse with their phones as well as the use ofother internet facilities.

Representatives of various communities inWarri urban as well as Catholic Youth Organization graced the occasion.
