Premium Steel presents cash to winners of Delta State Olympiad Competition
Presentation of a brand new Ambulance by Mr. Prasanta Mishra to Premium Hospital


Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Premium Steel and Mines Limited, Mr. Prasanta Mishra, has presented cash awards to students and teachers of the Premium Technical High School, also known as DSC Technical High School.

 

The students participated in the 2020 Science Olympiad for Science Students, wining all available prizes in the competition as the best school in the sciences in Delta State.

 

The Company also donated facilities to the Premium Hospital and Schools, in fulfillment of the Stallion Empowerment Initiative’s pledge of N120m for facilities’ upgrade in the company’s non-core areas.

 

Presenting the cash prizes to the beneficiaries in the school premises, Mr. Mishra, described the company Technical High School as one of the best in the country, assuring that the company was prepared to support the school to maintain her top profile in academic excellence in Nigeria and on the global stage.

 

He congratulated the winners, stressing that both students and teachers have done the school proud by continuing on the scale of global excellence in all their dealings, noting that with the current form the school was in the sciences, the Technical High School was going to conquer more grounds in the years ahead.

 

In order to put the competitive spirit in the students and also to encourage the winners to strive for greater heights, the CEO of the Company, Mr. Mishra presented the cash prize to students and teachers that prepared them for the competition with the cash motivation ranging between N20,000 and N50,000 to each winner.

 

The Technical High School operated by Premium Steel and Mines Limited won the first and second position in Mathematics in the senior category, First position in Mathematics in junior category, first position in Chemistry category, First position in Physics and second position in Biology category.

 

The students were given medals and certificates and they will represent Delta State at the National level of the competition at a later date.

 

Winners of the competition include Ejaife Jefferson, who came out first in Mathematics with Mrs. Joseph Okolor as subject teacher; Anireto Edesiri, second position in Mathematics in the senior category; Avwogua Eromosele, first position in Mathematics in junior category with Mrs. O.M Utueghe as subject teacher; Onotafe Stephanie came out first in Chemistry with Mrs. Victoria Omoko as subject teacher; Asala Titilayo came out first in Physics with Mr. Ideh Simon as subject teacher and Ugbo Oghenekome who came out second in Biology with Mrs. M.A Oboli as subject teacher.

 

Meanwhile, the company has completed the ultra-modern e-library for the Technical High School which, the company said, will be equipped with new racks and books, chairs and tables to accommodate up to 500 students in one sitting.

 

Addressing newsmen after the cash presentation to the outstanding students of the school, the CEO of Premium Steel and Mines Limited, Mr. Mishra disclosed that the company has also provided the school with a 200KVA power generating set to adequately serve all the technical workshops and laboratories in the school including the welding and fabrication workshops.

 

He disclosed further that the hospital is now wearing a new look with the painting of both the interior and exterior of the hospital, noting that the 24 hours operation has started in the hospital with the recruitment of ten doctors and nurses.

 

Mr. Mishra informed further that the hospital equipment recently delivered including an ultra-modern Blood bank, patient monitors, and a Diathemic machine for the theatre operations.

He added that the X-ray services of the hospital have been restored with the resuscitation of the X-ray machine after 20 years of non-operation.

 

‘’There has also been provision of a brand new modern ambulance for use of the company hospital and the installation of 20 units of computers and software for implementation of electronic mechanical records system in place of the old manual records’’, Mr. Mishra declared, stressing that with the new facilities in the hospital, the Premium Hospital is now one of the best with state of the art facilities in Delta State and beyond.
