We won't joke with enforcement of Waste Management law, DSWMB warns

The Delta State Waste Management Board, DSWMB, has commenced massive clean-up of Warri and environs, warning that enforcement of the Waste Management law, will be given the seriousness it deserves.   

                   

The member representing Delta South Senatorial District in the State’s Waste Management Board, Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema, who made the declaration Friday February 28, while supervising the clean-up exercise, cautioned against indiscriminate dumping of refuse across the state.

Hon. Edema, disclosed that the special waste evacuation exercise will last for two days and explained that the essence was to encourage safe and cleaner Delta.

                 

Our Senior Correspondent reports that officials and materials deployed by the waste management board, evacuated refuse in areas such as Ikengbuwa Primary School, opposite the Olu of Warri Palace along Ajamimogha Road, Ogunu Flyover, Deco Road to Warri Garage, Okumagba Avenue to Okere Market and Agric Research Centre, along Warri-Sapele Road, all in the Oil City of Warri.

                                                                                                                              

Hon. Edema, also noted that clearing of refuse in the median of major roads, had commenced from Deco Road to Avenue, through Okere Market to Ajamimogha, Ogunu and Warri Garage, just as he stressed that any Private Sector Participant, PSP that fails to meet refuse evacuation target, will be sanctioned.

The former two-time Warri South Local Government Chairman, praised the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for his determination to ensure cleaner Delta State.
