Even though the 2015 general elections is more than a year away and there are no clear indications on whether the member representing Warri South Constituency I in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Mrs.) Omawumi Beatrice Udoh will be seeking re-election considering the hurdles she had to overcome in the 2011 polls, Fresh Angle investigations however reveal that at-least three front runners in the PDP are putting machineries in place to unseat Hon. Udoh in the 2015 polls.
Our Investigations reveal that sibling to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and a chieftain of the PDP in Warri, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan, a Director of Protocol in Delta State Government House and former Councilor in Warri South Local Government, Hon. Godwin Abigor as well as an ex- Chief Whip in Warri South Local Government Legislative Arm and popular grassroots PDP leader in the Local Government, Hon. Griftson Omatsuli are among top contenders heavily speculated to be eyeing the Warri South Constituency I seat ceded to the Itsekiris by the Chief James Ibori administration, leaving the Warri South Constituency II seat being occupied by Barr. Dennis Omovie for Urhobos in Warri.
Despite claim by an inside source that the governor’s brother, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan may be fronting for Hon. Omawumi Udoh’s possible return in 2015, a close associate of Mr. Vincent Uduaghan who confided in Fresh Angle on condition of anonymity debunked the insinuation.
Mr. Vincent Uduaghan
According to the associate of the governor’s brother, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan who is a businessman as well as key intermediary political figure in Warri South PDP is determined to pursue his ambition to a logical conclusion unless the intriguing PDP political leadership thinks otherwise.
We can also report that Hon. Godwin Abigor, who was former personal aide to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan before the governor elevated him to the level of Director of Protocol, Government House, Asaba will have to re-establish his grassroots political relevance and rely strongly on the Dr. Joseph Otumara political structure for which he has been a pivotal member if he truly intends to replace Hon. Udoh as well as ward off likely stiff opposition from Mr. Vincent Uduaghan, Hon. Griftson Omatsuli and indeed other dark horses in Warri that are yet to make their intentions known for 2015.
Hon. Godwin Abigor
Hon. Griftson Omatsuli’s experience as ex-Chief Whip of Warri South Local Government Legislative Arm, ex-Chairman Contract Verification Committee, Warri South Local Government Council, ex-Chairman, House Committee on Housing, Works and Transport under the Chairmanship of Dr. Joseph Sisanmi Otumara in Warri South Local Government as well as his involvement in community leadership, grassroots politics and youth empowerment are factors that may count in his favour.
Experience has however shown that in the politics of Warri South, Warri South-West and Warri North local government areas, elective positions are often determined by high stake intrigues and directives, particularly in the PDP.
