The Police Area Commander in Warri, ACP Rabiu Hussaini has disclosed how the five-man armed robbery gang that robbed officials of a Warri based micro finance bank, Wetland Micro Finance Bank at Mudiaga Junction along Okumagba Avenue, Warri was tailed and killed by men of his command.
The Police Chief who gave the names of members of the dare devil gang as Christian Oko alias Onos, Friday, Emmanuel, Vicky, Uyi and Akpobome Oniovosa, disclosed that his men acted on a tip off to trace members of the gang to a place where they wanted to buy arms to carry out more deadly operations in the just celebrated yuletide festivities.
According to ACP Hussaini, other members of the gang were tracked through the gang ring leader popularly known as Onos and 5 AK47 riffles, including a Gulf 3 Vehicle which they usually use for their bloody operations were recovered from them.
He explained that investigations revealed that members of the gang usually change their vehicle number plate as a decoy to carry out their operations, noting that four of them were killed in cross fire, while one of them is believed to have relocated to Sokoto with his family.
ACP Hussaini, who spoke at his office in Warri in a chat with newsmen, commended Vigilantees in Warri, members of the public and the Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan for collaborating with his command to effectively tackle crime in Warri and environs.
