Real Estate properties worth over N 50 million have been razed down by fire in Kogi State during Christmas and New Year Eves, Our Roving National Correspondent reports.

Fresh Angle gathered that the Christmas Eve fire outbreak which occurred at Dumez Camp in Ajaokuta local government, Kogi State started at about 9pm and was allegedly caused by one Miss Joy (surname withheld).

According to an eye witness, it was the Boiling Ring Miss Joy plugged to power that allegedly sparked off fire, gutting a whole building and rendering more than 20 people homeless.

An eye witness, Miss Sefinat Lawal bares her thoughts this way, “it is a careless act from the hands of the woman who plugged a boiling ring at that eleventh hour. I am also disappointed with the fire fighter who was called on a rescue mission but came when all properties were gone. I am using this medium to appeal to corporate bodies, individuals, nongovernmental organizations, the federal and state governments to come to their aid because right now these sets of families are back to square one, squatting with different families in the steel city like refugees.”

On the accusation that she caused the fire outbreak that occurred Xmas Eve (December 24, 2013), Miss Joy admitted that she “was trying to tidy up some things when the whole house turned the other way round”.

In a similar development, the Apostolic Faith Church in Ondo Estate, also in Ajaokuta local government, Kogi State, a pharmaceutical shop belonging to one Mr. Peter, a car shop and four other estates were gutted by mysterious fire on New Year eve (December 31, 2013).

Head of the Apostolic Faith Church, Ondo Estate, Pastor Shaibu Theophilus in a telephone interview with Our Roving National Correspondent said the cause of the fire which happened New Year Eve gutting his church and other real estate properties is still a mystery. He said, “that very day the incident happened, I left church at exactly 9pm and all necessary appliances were off. It was only the street light connected from the electric pole that was on. I became surprise when they called me at 12 am that my church is on fire. My greatest surprise, thanks to God almighty is that the fire did not affect the other building which the entire church documents are kept. I am using this forum to advise our members to remain calm and continue to have faith in God. What has happened is a testimony because nobody was in the church that day and no life was lost”.
