Warri South Council Begins anti COVID-19 advocacy in Warri Markets

The Executive Council of Warri South Local Government, on Wednesday March 25, began an aggressive advocacy campaign against the COVID-19 Pandemic, with a visit to Dore (Main) Igbudu, Pessu, Ogbe-Ijoh and Ugbuwangue Modern Markets in Warri City Centre.

 

Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, who led his Vice, Mrs. Divine Iniovosa, Leader of Warri South Legislative Arm, Hon. Kingsley Edafiadjebre, Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye, Supervisors and the Council’s Head of Personnel Management, Dr. (Mrs.) Minnie Igbrude, addressed leaders of the market unions and traders, on the need to practice personal hygiene, being sensitive to their health as well as imperative of spreading the advocacy against COVID-19 Pandemic.

Dr. Tidi’s delegation which included Officials of the Red Cross, Shamar Educational Foundation and a Warri based social media advocate, Mr. Jollof, carried out illustrations on ways of preventing Coronavirus and general hygiene tips.

 

Leaders of the market unions, expressed appreciation for the enlightenment and promised to abide by the knowledge gained.

The expansive advocacy, which comprises of a well thought-out transit campaign along major roods and streets in Warri, is expected to further reach out to the grassroots through community town-criers and other forms of social as well as conventional media.
