Why Koko was dropped as host to EPZ Project- Uduaghan
Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan

Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan says the EPZ Project to be sited in Ogidigben, Escravos in Warri South-West local government that has triggered the protracted leadership crisis in Ugborodo was shifted from Koko the town originally billed to host the project because of the shallow nature of Koko river.

The governor, who stated that the Project has come to stay no matter the odds, declared that “the Project will kick off in the next few weeks”.

Dr. Uduaghan who was speaking during a media parley held at Government House Annexe in Warri Wednesday January 8 shortly after a Delta State High Court 1 sitting in Warri granted bail to four Ugborodo indigenes who had been in Warri Prison since November 2013, stated that Hon. David Tonwe who leads a faction of the Ugborodo Community Trust is closer to him than Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, who is believed to be enjoying his backing.

According to the governor, his interest in the whole Ugborodo saga is to make sure the EPZ Project succeeds, just as he enjoined media practitioners to shun sensationalism and report issues objectively.

Popular Itsekiri Women leader and activist, Chief (Mrs.) Rita Lori Ogbebor who led some Itsekiri women to the Government House Annexe in Warri during the media parley, explained that the visit is to seek ways to resolve the crisis in Ugborodo amicably.

She canvassed for the building of a Police Station at Ugborodo as well as adequate presence of other security agencies “to avert lawlessness” in the community.
