Horror: Robbers kill policeman, made away with 2 guns

It was atragic afternoon recently at Emebiren Street in Okumagba layout, Warri when a 5man gang of dare devil armed robbers that has been terrorizing the twin citiesof Warri and Effurun shot and kill a mobile policeman, injure another and madeaway with 2 guns assigned to the policemen.

Fresh Angle gathered that the two mobile policemencame from Lagoson escort duty, with the sole aim of safeguarding a member of Emebiren Assemblyof Jehovah Witness.

The fivemember robbery gang who wore army jackets with jeans came close to the mobilepolicemen and opened fire on them.

Our Correspondent who was close to the scene, reportsthat one of the mobile policemen died on the spot as a result of the sporadicgunshots, while his colleague who displayed gallantry by exchanging crossfire withthe robbers was shot on one of his legs and waist.

Sources saythe injured policeman was immediately rushed to an undisclosed hospital whereno doctor was on hand to attend to him before he was taken to anotherundisclosed hospital for treatment.

As at thetime of filing this report, nothing was heard from the injured policeman butthere are indications that only a timely intervention will save his life.

Fresh Angle can also report that a police patrolteam which was seen coming from Ugborikoko by Ejiro enroute Emebiren had tomake a u-turn on hearing the heavy firearms of the armed robbers, but laterreturn after the robbers who operated for about an hour had left.

Our Correspondent reports that the dreadful armedrobbers shocked residents of the area when they stood at Emebiren by JehovahWitness and arrogantly shot themselves to show their invincibility beforecarrying out their operation.

There werehowever no civilian casualty despite the bullet shots that penetrated acaravan, windows and iron protectors.
