Propertiesworth millions of naira were recently lost when fire razed a building at 10 Asagbagha Street,off Adjomo Avenueby Delta Palace Road,Ugborikoko in Uvwie local government area, Delta State.
Our SeniorCorrespondentwho was at the scene of the inferno reports that the fire started about1pm whenresidents of the area noticed a huge smoke on the roof of the building whichaccommodates 3 flats.
Aneyewitness told Fresh Angle that by the time neighbours got to the scene, thefire had already caused devastating damage and a 10 year old physicallychallenged boy whose father’s name is Dr. Godwin Ubhimhimyo suffered severe burns.
The witness furthertold OurSenior Correspondent that they rescued the 10year old boy to anundisclosed hospital, even as he quipped that they could not ascertain thecause of the fire.
Fresh Angle however gathered from a close familysource to Dr. Godwin Ubhimhimyo that the fire was caused by a spark of twocables at the top of the ceiling of Dr. Ubhimhimyo’s apartment.
Fresh Angle can authoritatively report that but forthe timely intervention of fire fighters from Shell Petroleum DevelopmentCompany, Western Division who successfully stopped the inferno from spreadingat exactly 1:57pm, efforts of officials of Delta State Fire Service whoresponded swiftly to put off the fire would have amounted to naught as they ranout of water due to the raging inferno.
