Ahead Confab: Renowned academics, ex-NIMASA DG to x-ray Itsekiri challenges in Nigeria

Ahead of the forthcoming National confab, prominent Itsekiri dons such as Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN) Dr. J.O. Ireyefoju of Delta State University, DELSU and ex-Director General of NIMASA, Barr. Temisan Omatseye will be among distinguished Itsekiri that will speak at the maiden National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG public lecture billed to hold in Warri.

The public lecture which will give the Itsekiri people a great opportunity to take a cursory look at the intra-ethnic challenges facing the Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality as well as carrying out a surgical analysis on the state of Itsekiri nation as a minority group in Nigeria is expected to have Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, the member representing Warri Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju and Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan among others as Special Guest of honour.

According to a statement signed by NAIG National President and Secretary, Comrade Alero Tenumah and Comrade  Toju Okpeyeoghan respectively, the lecture which is being facilitated  by Consultant to the Federal Government on Oil and Gas, Chief David Omaghomi will hold Saturday March 1 at the popular PK PUB in Warri, Delta State.

The statement adds that NAIG members from within and outside the country, Itsekiri students from tertiary institutions as well as prominent Iwere socio-cultural groups have been fully mobilized to attend, while the Olu of Warri and a former boss of the defunct MAMSER Chief(Mrs.) P.E.B Uku will feature as father and mother of the day.

The Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality: Challenges of a Minority in a multi-ethnic Nigeria as well as political challenges of the Itsekiri ethnic nationality in Nigeria are among keynote lectures to be delivered, even as adequate security and logistics arrangements have been put in place to ensure safety of participants at the lecture.
