The Director of Sports, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE, Mr. Lekan Adeyemi says team FUPRE has recorded fantastic performances in Nigeria University Games, NUGA.
Mr. Adeyemi who also doubles as coach of Team FUPRE made the declaration in a chat with Fresh Angle at the institution’s campus at Ugbomro near Effurun, in Uvwie local government, Delta State.
He explained that FUPRE which was founded in 2007 went to the 2009 NUGA to experience it before participating fully in 2011.
According to him, during their participation in 2011 NUGA, Team FUPRE won a total of 9 medals (two silver and seven bronze) in seven sports out of 15 competed for.
He disclosed that Team FUPRE participated in the just concluded NUGA held at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and won five medals (two gold, one silver and two bronze) in the game of chess.
Mr. Adeyemi further disclosed that out of 55 Universities that participated in the just concluded year 2014, NUGA, 41 won medals , while Team FUPRE emerged 14th beating older Universities like DELSU, Ekiti State University, UNIAGRIC, FUTO, ESUT, UNIUYO and University of Ibadan.
