Wife of Delta State Governor and Founder of 05 Initiative, Dame (Mrs.) Edith Okowa, says her decision to celebrate her birthday with inmates of Nigerian Correctional Service, Warri, is because she wants their lives to be sweet and for them to be reassured that they are important to the scheme of things in the state.

The Delta State First Lady, who made the statement Monday June 1, at the Nigerian Correctional Service, Warri, during a Special Service held to mark her birthday, admonished the inmates not to be afraid of the Coronavirus pandemic, but to practice preventive measures.
Dame Okowa, who was represented by Chairperson of Warri South Local Government Area, Mrs. Juliet Tidi, noted that it was always a thing of joy to celebrate birthday with the inmates.

In an interview, Mrs. Tidi thanked Dame Okowa for showing love and concern to the inmates.

Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Warri South Chapter, Dr. Triumph Etaoghene, in an exhortation taken from John 3:15-17, thanked God for the life of Dame Edith Okowa and her 05 Initiative, saying by celebrating with inmates of the Correctional Service, instead of her compatriots, Dame Okowa has demonstrated love to the hopeless in the society.
The Deputy Comptroller of Corrections in Charge of Nigerian Correctional Service, Warri, Sir Solomon Airiohuodion, appealed to the First Lady to impress it on the state government to work out modalities for the release of inmates in different categories, who have exhibited positive change and willing to integrate into the society.

The Assistant General Pastor of Nigerian Correctional Service, Warri, David Erhirhie, appealed to the state government to provide a-50 KVA generator for the centre, assuring that they, “will never fail the state again.”
The Officer in-Charge of Operations of the Service in Warri, Rev. Bernard Umoko, prayed for the Governor’s Wife, Chairperson of Warri South Local Government Area, Mrs. Juliet Tidi, the executive of Warri South Local Government Council as well as sustained peace in Delta State.
