Controversy trails alleged N800m NDDC sand-filling project in Utonlila
The recently erected sign-post

Controversy is brewing in Utonlila Community in Warri North Local government Area, Delta State, over an N800million Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC sand-filling project reportedly proposed for the community, with tongues wagging that the project may have actually been executed in a neighbouring Itsekiri community.

The Assistant National Trust Secretary of Utonlila Community, Mr. Cyril Egbejule, who spoke to Fresh Angle International on the controversy surrounding whether or not the project had been executed in another community, explained that even though a sign post was recently erected in Utonlila as indication by the contractor that the much desired project was set to take off, some persons in the Warri North Community fear that erection of the sign post could be “another ploy by the contractor to collect money from NDDC and abandon the project”.

Mr. Cyril Egbejule

Your Soaring International Tabloid scooped that despite the fear by some indigenes of Utonlila that the sand -filling project may have been executed in a neighbouring community with Utonlila’s name, couple of others who got in touch with the contractor, said to be a prominent Warri Chief, assured that the contractor promised them that he would mobilize to site in a month’s time.

This Newspaper understands that Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, had on March 5, 2019, commissioned ten housing units built by Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC at Utonlila, a community said to have been founded in 1795 by Princess Desor and Ugberun.
