Worried by the spate of kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry and incessant killings bedeviling Kogi State, the Coalition of Political Parties, has challenged security agencies to urgently do the needful, to avert further loss of lives in the state.
Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that the Coalition’s fears is contained in a statement signed Friday June 12, by its leader, Hon. Ibrahim Idoto.
It was earlier reported that, eight police officers and many civilians were killed in a robbery attack in Isanlu, Kogi West Senatorial District.
While the state was trying to come to terms with the gory incident, some daredevil armed robbers on June 10, succeeded in killing two persons and whisked many travelers to unknown destination without confrontation by the security operatives in the state.
Following the aforementioned incidents and many others that had been reported in the three senatorial districts, Itodo averred that, the perpetuators of the bloody crimes should be immediately apprehended as many citizens could hardly sleep with their two eyes closed.
His words “Not very long ago, armed robbers killed 8 police officers on duty and some civilians. Also on the 10th of June, Ofodile the owner of a popular supermarket was also killed in cold blood.
“We frown at this incessant killings and therefore call on the security agencies to redouble their efforts to bring the perpetrators to book because if this is not quickly unraveled, nobody knows who is next.
“The coalition sympathize with the families of the unfortunate events, which are too much to bear, but may God console the bereaved.
“We appeal to the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to re-strategize on the operations of the security agencies to enable them maintain the peace Kogi State is known for under his watch.
“Kogi State is known for peace,we employ all and sundry to help security agencies by providing accurate information to bring this un-wanton killings to the end".
