The Warri Rebirth Advocacy, WRA, a socio-political pressure group comprising of over 5,000 Warri residents and people from different ethnic groups across Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West Local Government Areas in Delta State, today Tuesday August 11, converged at the Sand-Field Esisi Road, Warri, calling on the current Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Ejueyitsi Tidi, to vie for a second term as Warri South Council Chairman in the forthcoming Delta State Local Government Polls.

President of Warri Rebirth Advocacy, WRA, Comrade Ebigbeyi Tuoyo, who read a communique while addressing the large gathering of WRA members, stated that the resolve to call on Dr. Tidi to declare for a second term, was informed by his, “enviable achievements as Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, despite the apparent paucity of funds, occasioned by the huge responsibilities associated with the administration of a densely populated council as Warri South and the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.”

Comrade Ebigbeyi, outlined the achievements of Dr. Tidi to include; “rehabilitation of the Ajamimogha Primary Health Care Center,  fencing and renovation of Ekurede Urhobo and Ogunu Primary Health Care Centers, comprehensive daily environmental sanitation exercise in the council area, payment of inherited staff salary arrears on assumption of office, prompt payment of staff salaries, donation of power generator to Ubeji Police Station, rehabilitation of patrol van for the police in ‘A’ Division and support for other security agencies in Warri, ongoing reconstruction work at Erejuwa Playing Ground in Warri, rehabilitation of the council secretariats, supporting traditional institutions in the council area, massive renovation of the Ugbuwangue Ultra-Modern Market and the construction of additional 120 open shops, which is now in full swing of economic activities.”

According to him, other achievements of Dr. Tidi administration are; the upgrading of Ubeji Primary Health Care Center into a Cottage Hospital, through Public Private Partnership with Matrix Energy Nigeria  Limited,  renovation of old maternity Ward in Warri Central Hospital, upgrade of the Ode-Itsekiri Primary Health Care Center to a Delta State Contributory Health Insurance Hospital, with Nurses and Doctor on ground as well as  construction of 21 Water Borehole Projects across the 19 DISEC wards that make up Warri South  Local Government Area.

WRA noted that under the leadership of Dr. Michael Tidi, the first and second Warri Economic Summits were organized to change the narrative of how Warri is perceived and ultimately reposition the city for greater socio-economic growth.

“The dividends of the summit are visible for even the blind to see, as small and medium scale businesses are springing up in Warri South by the day. Example of such SMEs is the establishment of Gt Guest House/Stitches, 10:45 Hotel, Lejumav Hotel all in Warri GRA, Waves Eatery Ubeji, Bread House Factory Ubeji, Climax Beach Lunge and Club, Egbokodo, Tualisco Sport Bar, Egbokodo, Octagon Lounge GRA, Safari Pharmacy, Ajamimogha, Kentloise Hotel GRA, AYM Shafa Tank Farm, Ifiekporo, Parker Oil and Gas Tank Farm, Ifiepkoro and Keonamex Petrol Tank Farm, among others. Over 70 percent of these businesses are owned by Wafarians, who got their inspiration from the first and second edition of the Warri Economic Summits”, WRA explained.

The group added that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Tidi was responsive and ensured  palliatives were given  out to people resident within Warri South Local Government Area, which helped to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 lockdown.

Our Senior Correspondent reports that other members of WRA who spoke during 5,000-man match include Amb. Sisanmi Jalogho; Secretary, Fatai Onifade; Publicity Secretary, Toju Prince; P.R.O, Ukeme Peter; 2nd Coordinator,  Solomon Ojogor; 1st Coordinator and the President of  Delta Democratic Platform,  Comrade Paul Okotie, who described Dr. Tidi as the vibrant and responsive Chairman Warri South needs.
