Adrian Eberemu emerges first Professor from DSC


Engr. Professor Adrian Oshioname Eberemu, has emerged first alumnus of the prestigious DSC Technical High School, formerly of the Delta Steel Company but now under the management of Premium Steel and Mines Limited, Ovwian-Aladja, Delta State.

 

Breaking the good news to newsmen in Warri, President of the THS Old Students Association, Engr. Silvanus Omajuwa Ajuyah expressed delight at the milestone achievement, stressing that the foundational knowledge garnered by those who passed through the technical college prepared all for the top of their career.

 

"On behalf of the National Executive Council and entire members of Delta Steel Company Technical High Old Students Association (THSOSA), I hereby extend heartiest congratulations to Engr. Prof. Adrian Oshioname EBEREMU as the first Professor in our great association.

 

"His conferment as a professor was formalised on August 13th 2020 with effect from October 1st 2018 by the Vice Chancellor Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

 

"With more than 14 years as an academician and earlier experiences practising Geotechnical and civil engineering, Adrian is now a Professor of Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental Engineering in the department of Civil Engineering, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria.

 

"As an alumni of DSC THS who graduated with the Class of 90, Adrian has also been committed to the growth of THSOSA as testified by his being a board member of THSOSA Mentor-Mentee Scheme Board of Mentors. 

 

"After his foundational learning in DSC THS, Adrian obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from FUTO in 1997, further had Msc and PHD in 2003 and 2008 respectively from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.

 

"It is worthy to note that he has published more than 170 papers in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings and chapters on various aspects of geotechnical engineering research as well as over 240 technical reports on various geotechnical engineering projects. His primary areas of expertise are in the beneficial reuse of waste materials in soil improvement, geo-material site characterization, solutions to geo-environmental problems, waste containment barriers and covers, Biogeochemical Processes in Geotechnical Engineering (Microbial Induced Calcite Precipitation) and unsaturated soils (collapsible soils).

 

"Adrian is also a registered Engineer with Council for Regulation of Engineering Practice in Nigeria (COREN), a Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a Member of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, a member of the American Society for Civil Engineers as well as the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, ISSMG.

 

"Whilst we are proud of his achievements, it is our strong belief that he is going to make tremendous global impact in the days ahead and he would certainly keep the furnace burning," the statement added.
