Delta State Adhoc Committee on Environmental Sanitation in Warri, Uvwie and Udu local government areas has expressed sadness over Tuesday evening (April 8) unfortunate accident in which two persons died when one of the heavy duty equipment hired for the cleanup operations earlier in the day crashed into two tricycles.
Report says the accident happened around Water Resources Junction area, Effurun in Uvwie local government when the driver of the pay loader hired by the Adhoc Committee on Environmental Sanitation lost control after close of work, in the process killing two persons and injuring four others.
A Statement by the State Commissioner for Information, Barr. Chike Ogeah explained that members of the Environmental Sanitation Committee who worked in the axis led by Water Resources Commissioner, Dr. Chris Oghenechovwen on hearing of the accident quickly mobilized to the scene and swung into action immediately by rescuing the victims.
The team also commenced treatment of the injured persons and evacuated all those involved to the hospital for better medical care.
The Information Commissioner added that a medical team Co-ordinated by the State Health Commissioner, Dr. Joseph Otumara also facilitated prompt treatment of the injured persons at the Central Hospital, Warri.
One of the accident Victims, Mr. Eze Emesiobi, a welder has since been discharged while three others including a six- year old girl are receiving treatment.
All those being treated are in stable condition, while those who died are an infant and a fourteen year old boy.
Mr. Ogeah added that the committee regretted the unfortunate incident and commiserated with the families of those who died in the accident as well as those injured, assuring that the best medical care will be given to the accident victims.
