The member representing Delta North Senatorial District at the National Assembly and one time Secretary to Delta State Government, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has declared that he does not believe in zoning but one with "reasonable experience" to run as Governor of Delta State.

Senator Okowa made the declaration Wednesday April 30 at Asaba during a Media Parley he had with Publishers and Correspondents of Community Newspapers in Delta State. “I am not one of those candidates in Delta North who talk of zoning to be Governor in Delta State because I don't believe in it. I believe in equity, competence and experience to be Governor of Delta State", he averred.

While noting that he does not partake in smear campaigns to run his opponents down, Dr. Okowa who acknowledged that he is eyeing the Delta State Governorship position come 2015, challenged Journalists to judge him and other aspirants on competence and experience.

He also enjoined Journalists to carry out in-depth investigation on himself and other aspirants running for the 2015 gubernatorial race in Delta State as well be fair in their reportage to all, noting that aspirants who intend to play "text book politics" will fail.

According to Senator Okowa, some aspirants are in the race to foment trouble with their wealth while a few like him are in the race to serve Deltans.

Senator Okowa who was also a former Delta State Commissioner for Health gave a brief of his administration's agenda if elected governor of Delta State to include improved Agricultural programmes, Health Sector, Infrastructures as well as tackle the high rate of unemployment by creating the enabling environment for the private sectors and individuals to thrive through improved power and energy on the part of the Federal Government.  

According to Senator Okowa, former Governor of Delta State, "Chief James Onanefe Ibori has set a foundation, Dr. Uduaghan is doing his best especially in areas Delta can develop in revenues coming from other sources”, noting that he will “strengthen areas the state has done well and be different in areas the state has been weak" for rapid development.

Senator Okowa opined that the security intelligence units in the country needs training and re-training to enable it tackle terrorism which is currently posing a serious challenge to the nation.
