The Warri South Local Government Local Education Authority, LEA has donated teaching aids valued at over four hundred thousand naira to the 37 public primary schools in the local government.
Speaking at a brief ceremony held Thursday May 15 at the Warri South Council Main Secretariat shortly before the presentation, the Head of Personnel Management, Local Education Authority, Warri South Local Government, Mrs. Ekpe Alero Rhoda described the gesture as one put together to compliment the state government developmental strides in the educational sector.
According to Mrs. Ekpe Rhoda, the transformation of public schools in Delta State to international standard by the Uduaghan administration has led to 100% increase in admission into public schools.
While expressing optimism that the teaching aides will be judiciously used by the 37 benefiting primary schools, Mrs. Ekpe disclosed that by September 2014, the Warri South LEA will also distribute diaries and registers to public primary schools in its renewed vigor aimed at boosting the standard of basic education in Warri South local government.
The Head of Department, Quality Assurance, Warri South LEA, Mrs. Enaregha Queen in a remark expressed belief that the donation of the teaching aids will improve teaching and learning in the schools.
The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUI, Warri South Local Government, Eburajolo Ada Vero and the Head of Head Teachers in Warri South local government, Evangelist Lori Patrick in their responses on behalf of other teachers, described the gesture by the LEA Warri South as the first of its kind in the local government area and promised that the teaching aids would be put to judicious use.
Our Correspondent reports that the teaching aids distributed in the flag off exercise are: One thousand notebooks to be used by the primary school teachers for lesson notes, packets of white markers and several cartons of chalk.
