New 295meter Pakah Street Project, Warri to get drainage – DESOPADEC, Opuoru assures

Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC and the Member representing Warri South Constituency II in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Matthew Poko Opuoru, have assured that the newly constructed 295meter Pakah Street, Otor-Orere in Okere-Urhobo, Warri South Local Government Area, will get drainage channels in the next two months.

The Member representing Warri South Constituency II in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Matthew Opuoru and the Commissioner representing Ughelli, Udu, Uvwie and Urhobos of Warri, Mr. Vincent Oyibode, gave the assurance Monday October 5, when they embarked on inspection of the project.

Hon. Opuoru, who traced the history of the project to 2014, when he was Commissioner, Special Duties in DESOPADEC, thanked Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for “his steadfast commitment towards infrastructural development in the state” and commended the Board as well as management of DESOPADEC, particularly Mr. Vincent Oyibode, for making the project a reality.

DESOPADEC Commissioner, Mr. Oyibode, explained that the town hall meeting organized by the current Board of the Commission, on assumption of Office and the persistence of Hon. Opuoru, resulted in the manifestation of the multiple link road project.

A leader in Okere-Urhobo, Chief Bright Okumagba, who addressed the media, stated: “We are very happy, words are not enough to describe my joy. The project started when my brother, Hon. Opuoru, was in DESOPADEC. It has solved a lots of problem and will open up the socio-economic activities in this area”.

He stated that this was the first time they are enjoying DESOPADEC in its fullness and stressed the need for the Commission to seriously consider the construction of drainages and open a channel linking the access road, so as to complete the joy of residents of the area, who often suffered from flood during the rainy season.

Some residents of the area, Freda Foubiri, Mr. Robert Karika and Ambrose Oyarobaroakpo, expressed appreciation to DESOPADEC and Hon. Opuoru for construction of the road project.
