Create jobs to control insecurity, Igbakpa advises FG
Hon. Ben Igbakpa

The lawmaker representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ben Igbakpa, has advised the Federal Government and other arms of government, to create jobs in order to control the high level of insecurity in the country.

Our Senior Correspondent reports that Hon. Igbakpa, gave the advice yesterday in Sapele, Delta State, while playing host to members of the Online Media Practitioners’ Association of Nigeria, OMPAN, Delta State Chapter.

He commended the group, “for displaying high level of professionalism” and assured of partnering with them, in order to see to their success as they discharge their duties.

The lawmaker, outlined his achievements to include provision of stipends to some of his constituents, appointment of about hundred ward liaison officers, women empowerment, Zonal Intervention Programme, ZIP as well as provision of transformers to some areas of his constituency.

He said he has six bills pending at the House of Representatives, which include a bill to amend the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission. NERC, assuring that if the bill scales through, the distribution companies, DISCOS, slamming Nigerians with outrageous bills, would be a thing of the past.

According to him, despite criminalising no-meter-no-bill, it has not been enforced, thereby giving room for the DISCOS to extort Nigerians.

Hon. Igbakpa, a former lawmaker representing Ethiope West Local Government Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly and Commissioner for Transport, faulted the Nigerian budgetary process, noting that, "it is a fraud for every contractor, who finishes a contract, not to be paid", urging the government not to award projects that they can't pay for.

While commending Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, “for empowering the youths across the state”, he expressed reservation about the borrowing plan by federal government and enjoined Ethiope East and West Local Government Councils, to always expect quality representation from him.
