Committee For Verification Of Kogi High Court, JSC Staff Commences Exercise


The three-man Committee constituted by the Hon. Acting Chief Judge of Kogi State, Hon. Justice Henry Olusiyi, to verify the staff strength of both the High Court and the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) of the state has commenced the verification exercise on Monday, 2nd November 2020, beginning with all the staff located in Lokoja the state capital.

 

Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that the committee which has Barr. Ibrahim O. Alhassan, a member of the JSC as its Chairman, began sitting in the Conference Hall of the JSC collating the details of all judiciary staff attached to the judiciary headquarters and JSC. Before commencement of the exercised, the committee had requested for memorandum form judiciary members through a circular earlier issued by the secretary of the committee, Barr. S. A. Atsumbe.

 

As at the time of filing this report, all staff attached to the office of the Chief Registrar, the Directorates of Litigation, Magistracy, Area Courts, Personnel and those of the JSC were seen being verified by the committee whose other third member is Mr. Paul Egwu. 

 

According to the Secretary, all other staff of the remaining directorates at the High Court headquarters and Lokoja Inspectorate Zone have up to Friday, 6th November, 2020 within which to pick their respective forms and make personal appearance at the before the committee for the exercise..

 

The Chairman said the committee will subsequently move to other stations outside Lokoja from Monday next week when it hopes to cover the rest part of the state. 

 

The areas to be covered, according to him, in the week commencing on 9th November are Kabba, Anyibga and Okene. He therefore directed that all staff in those axis are to converge on these areas to participate in the exercise. 

 

He however warned that any staff who refuses to make himself or herself available for the exercise would have nobody to blame but themselves stating that the committee hopes to round up the exercise within its given time.

 

Among the requirements demanded of each staff are copies of documents that provide dates of first appointment, confirmation, appointment or posting to present station and highest qualification obtained. 

 

In addition, all staff are to present their bank details and fill in their monthly net pay while also expected to affix a passport photograph to the form they are issued.

 

The Hon. Acting Chief Judge had, while inaugurating the committee had charged the committee, among other terms, to “determine the actual nominal roll of the High Court and JSC, determine the actual monthly wage bill of the High Court and JSC, investigate and determine whether the salary scales adopted in the two establishments are proper and appropriate”.

 

 He urged all staff to give the committee maximum cooperation in other for it to promptly round up its assignment.
