Matrix Energy Group empowers 67 widows with over 10 million naira

A leading indigenous oil and gas downstream retailer, Matrix Energy Group, Thursday November 26, gave out over 10 million naira as empowerment to more than 67 widows across its five host communities; Ifie-Kporo, Aja-Etan, Ijala-Ikenren, Ubeji and Egbokodo as well as other communities in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State.

 

Fresh Angle International can report that each beneficiary, received one hundred and fifty thousand naira (N150,000.00) to support their businesses and assist their families in mitigating the harsh economic effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

The Chief Operating Officer of Matrix Energy Group, Mr. Luqman Salam Alada, charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money, in order to attract more benefits from the company, assuring that those who invest the largesse wisely, will be given more support after evaluation.

 

Mr. Alada, who was represented by the Group Head/ Health Safety and Environment/ Community Relations Manager, Mr. Fred Olomuro, stated that supporting the widows with funds would transform small businesses in the company’s host communities.

 

While noting that the company was mindful of the difficult economic situation, Mr. Alada commended the host communities for their cordiality in the past ten years and solicited for continuous support from them.

 

A Cross Section of other recipients of the empowerment

 

 

Delivering a brief lecture on ‘Entrepreneurship Training and Business Management’, the Executive Secretary, Vocational Training Centre, Delta State, Engr. Ikem Smart, encouraged the widows to take their businesses seriously and avoid selling their wares on credit, so as to keep their micro-investments afloat.

 

Two of the beneficiaries, including Roli Oruru of Ifie-Kporo and Grace Tshuku, who spoke shortly after receiving prototype cheque for the money, commended Matrix Energy Group, saying they are proud of the company for remembering them for such empowerment and appealed to Delta State and Federal Governments as well as other companies operating in the area to emulate Matrix Group.
