The State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Comrade Ayodele Thomas, has debunked the media reports that the union under his leadership arrived at a benchmark for percentage salaries to be paid teachers.
Speaking on the sideline of a letter forwarded to the State NLC Secretariat, by the Joint Action Union, Ayodele, said after a week long agitations with the state government on the welfare of teachers, they decided to accept the offer of the government based on the financial resources available in the state.
According to him, the offer was accepted with a provision for an upward review in the subsequent month if the state allocation improves.
Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that Ayodele pointed out that those who are in doubt of his entry and exit date in service to do the necessary confirmation from the State Universal Basic Board (SUBEB).
He said NUT under his leadership has in the last few years made the welfare and interest of workers Paramount, just as he call on mischief makers who have hinged on ignorance calling for his resignation to do same.
