APC Suspends Ijumu Council Boss, over alleged gross misconduct


The Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Alhaji Taufiq Isa, has been suspended from the All Progressives Congress, APC, for misconduct, truancy and mismanagement of funds worth millions of Naira.

 

The suspension is contained in a statement signed by the Caretaker Chairman of the Party in the Area, Deacon S.B Abejide, Secretary, Agunbiade Yekini, Women Leader, Toyin Otitolaye and Youth Leader, Kehinde Ibiteye.

 

The statement reads in part: "We hereby write to inform you, that you have been suspended from the APC Ijumu Local Government Chapter with effect from 9th April 2021 till you respond, appear and clear" the following allegations; Truancy, diversion of items meant for members of the party, factionalization of party, financial recklessness and anti party activities activities among others. 

 

The Party threw more light on the allegations levelled against the Ijumu chairman. "Truancy: "We receive on daily basis reports of your refusal to come to office and refusal to delegate authority depriving ijumu son's and daughter opportunities to be able to participate in national recruitment exercises as they could not get anyone to sign their citizenship certificate.

 

"Presidential ambition: we recall that the Genesis of our problem with you is our refusal to your proposal to convince us to form a structure for a certain presidential aspirant with link in Ijumu Local Government Area, although you assure us that is for us to make money, because Gov. Bello has no presidential future.  

 

"We are aware you collected huge sum of money from this presidential aspirant agents during your election with promise to work for them. For instance, you have always publicly accused the executive Governor of the State of deducting the Local Government allocation to fund his presidential ambition and the newly established University.

 

"Diversion of Goods: After series of deliberation, we have unconverd that since your appointment as administrator of Ijumu LGA, you have always diverted all goods meant for the people of your local government to yours personal residence, where that are sold in the market, at the expense of the people, thereby depriving the good intentions of the State Government for the people to enjoy the dividend of democracy.

 

"Factionalization of the party: As a party leader, one will expect you to work for the unity of the party, but the reserve is the case. As every of your actions are inimical to the glory of the party.

 

Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that in a swift reaction, the Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Alhaji Taofiq Isa called on party members and his teaming supporters to remain calm as the matter will be handled appropriately.

 

 

"The attention of the Executive Chairman Ijumu Local Government and other Leaders of qz canthe Party in Ijumu have been drawn to all media write-ups as it affects vote of no confidence on the Local Government party Chairman, Women Leader & Youth leader and other concerning/bothering issues within the party."

 

The Chairman in a statement through his Senior Special Assistant on Political and Strategy, Hon. Rotimi Ayemowa said himself, Senator Smart Adeyemi and other leaders of the Party are already discussing/putting all necessary machineries in place to ensure calmness and oneness among the LG party Excos and other affected party members.

 

"In view of this, everyone is directed to soft-pedal on the above moves/rancor to give peace a chance and work in harmony with one another as we move Ijumu forward."
