Abiteye/Utonana Fields: Beating the drum of war, is not a sign of power- Aginejuone warns

A community leader in Omadino and Secretary to OML 150 Consultative Forum, Oritseweyinmi Aagbonekuya Aginejuone, has warned Gbamaratu Youth President against provocative statements, regarding Chevron’s planned Joint Investigation Verification, JIV, to the ascertain the cause of the crude oil spill that recently occurred at the company’s Abiteye and Utonana Fields in Warri South and Warri South-West Local Government Areas of Delta State, saying, “beating the drum of war, is not a sign of power”.

Aginejuone, who handed down the warning in a statement made available to Fresh Angle International this morning, Friday April 16, declared: “Nobody, I repeat nobody, has the monopoly of war in his hands, especially a man who does not even know the next Minot of his life!”

He asked: “For those who beat the drum of war, how are you sure if you even start the war, you will come out alive?”

While stating that the Ijaws and the Itsekiris did not find it funny during the last Warri crisis, the self-styled veteran litigant, stated: “We are all classmates in the grave!”

Aginejuone, cautioned the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited, not to pay anything regarding Markaraba and Utonana Fields, without the consent of Omadino Community: “Because we are the legitimate owners, or else, we will go to court. Remember, in the consent judgement of several years ago, the Omadino people had 2/3 and the Ijaws of Uba Kokodie got 1/3 of the area affected by the crude oil spill.”

While stating that, “Gbaramatu people, beating the drum of war, should not forget to keep their legal documents to show ownership of the land”, Aginejuone prayed God to continually give the Trust Chairman of Omadino, Professor Gabriel Yomere, the wise counsel to lead the oil-rich Warri South municipal to rapid development.
