Abiteye Controversy: It is no longer convenient to allow Warri North Chairman, Asekutu resume in Koko- INYC
Hon. Smart Yomi Asekutu

As crisis continue to brew in Abiteye, between Gbaramatu Ijaws and the Itsekiris of that axis, The Itsekiri National Youths Council, INYC, says it would no longer be convenient to allow the Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area, Hon. Smart Yomi Asekutu and Councilors of Ijaw extraction in the council, resume their offices in Koko, headquarters of Warri North, until they go down to the creeks to caution the Gbaramatu Ijaws, “who are threatening Itsekiris from performing their legitimate duties in Abiteye”.

President of INYC, Comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro, who spoke to Fresh Angle International on telephone this morning, Friday April 16, after a security meeting of the apex Itsekiri youth body, stated: “The information reaching us is that the Ijaws in Gbaramatu are already mobilizing to drive away innocent Itsekiris living in Abiteye axis. Irrespective of all the sacrifices that the Itsekiris have made for the Ijaws, to ensure that we live peacefully and harmoniously together in the area”.

While noting that since the brewing crisis in Abiteye axis, “has not been condemned by Hon. Asekutu”, INYC gave the Warri North Chairman, maximum 14 days from today, Friday April 16, to resolve the problem in Abiteye axis, adding: “The Vice Chairman, Hon. Solomon Mikie, should not refuse to act in his absence. The PDP Chairman of Warri North, Dr. Isaac Wilkie, may also join the Local Government Chairman on this assignment, because his party brought Ijaw, he should join him to resolve the problem in Abiteye”.

Meanwhile, feelers reaching Your Soaring International Tabloid, say Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has scheduled a meeting of parties involved in the crisis for a meeting at Asaba on Monday April 19, with a view to dousing tension and possibly brokering truce between the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited, the company’s Itsekiri host communities and Gbaramatu Ijaws.
