The NNPC/Chevron Nigeria Limited Joint Venture, earlier today, Thursday April 29, commissioned the renovated Ubeji Town Hall in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State.

The General Manager Policy, Government & Public Affairs, PGPA of Chevron Nigeria Limited, Mr. Esimaje Brikinn in his address at the event, stated that the renovated Town hall project, “demonstrates NNPC/CNL JIV's efforts to improve the welfare of their neighbours and beyond”, explaining that the project was selected by people of Ubeji Community to provide a conducive environment for their meetings as well as generate revenue for the community.

Mr. Brikinn, who was represented by the Area Manager PGPA Field Operations, Warri, Mr. Sam Daibo, noted that apart from the Town Hall, the NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture and other Chevron companies in Nigeria, have executed several projects, which are either ongoing or have been completed across the state. He mentioned the commissioned six-classroom block at Ubeji Grammar School, as one of such projects.
While commending people of Ubeji, “for creating the enabling environment”, Mr. Daibo, stated: “It is significant that CNL add value to people's lives through our Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Engagement initiatives”, adding: “It is the trail of goodness, we leave behind in every community, neighboring our operations".
He stated that CNL’s partnership with the Delta State Government, has proved positive with visible development projects and programme across the state, advising people of Ubeji to put the Town Hall into good use and maintain it always.
Our Senior Correspondent reports that the Chairman of Ubeji Community, Amb. Godwin Mone, commended Chevron Nigeria Limited for embarking on the project, saying: “It gives us great joy and also creates positive impact in our socio-economic life, we say you do well (sic)”.
Amb. Mone, appealed to Chevron to support women and youth empowerment in the community, especially in the areas of providing soft loan to businesses as well as skill acquisition, in order to reduce unemployment.
Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba, urged CNL to help implement demands of the community, in order to improve the economic lives of the people.
He commended CNL for the project and encouraged people of Ubeji to remain peaceful, so as to attract more development projects.
Fresh Angle International can report that the Olare-Aja (Oldest Man) of Ubeji Community, Chief Akoma Demeyin, CNL Officials, Mr. Happy Apai, Kayode Adeboye, Mr. Henry, Ese, the immediate past Ubeji Chairman, Engr. Clement Erewa, Warri South Council Supervisor for Environment, Patricia Edun, Members of Ubeji Community Trust and Youth exco as well as other stakeholders, were among those present during the commissioning.
