Delta State Police Command, has uncovered a fake alcohol factory at Ovwian in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, arresting the factory owner, one Kenneth Ajie of Emadaja Village.
According to a statement sent to Fresh Angle International this afternoon, Thursday April 29, by the Ag. Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, DSP. Bright Edafe, the discovery of the fake alcohol factory and arrest of the owner, was after due intelligence gathering and mobilization by operatives from the State Anti-Cult Unit, SACU led by SP Christopher Igbaji, who were on a sting operation with the civilian anti-cult volunteer corps.
The operation was reportedly carried out at about 2030hrs, April 16, 2021.
The suspect, who allegedly produces the fake wines in his house, operates without any license.
The Police statement claimed that the said Kenneth Ajie, acknowledged selling the wine for three hundred naira (N300) per bottle and three thousand, six hundred naira (N3,600) per carton.
Ajie, also purportedly confessed that he bottles the wine himself, uses bottles that had already been used as well as disposed and buys the bottles at ten naira (N10.00) each.
According to the Police, the suspect also buys the cork from open market, washes the bottles himself, personally cork the wines and sells to members of the public, producing about one to three cartons per day.
