Northern cartels are major beneficiaries of our insecurity challenges, Ohanaeze alleges

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has alleged that, “Northern cartels are the major beneficiaries” of the insecurity challenges and rebellion bedeviling the country at the moment, saying omission of South-East in the Security Council, “fuels disintegration and is tragic disappointment”, of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

The Igbo group made the allegation in an electronic statement made available to Fresh Angle International, this morning, Monday May 24.

While acknowledging that: “It's the prerogative and discretion of President Muhammadu Buhari to replace the late Lt. Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, with any officer of his choice as the next Chief of staff”, Ohanaeze stated: “Mr. President must focus on competence and Nationalism in accordance with the tenets of Federal Character”.

The statement ascribed to the factional Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, added: “We are not lobbying for a southeast officer as alternate of late COAS but we are drawing the attention of President Buhari to evaluate the privileges of being unpredictable and reversing the wrong suspicions that he is biased against the southern Nigeria leading the Army.

“Every geopolitical zone should be represented in the security Council to boast national reintegration and restoration of confidence amongst other Nigerians, that Mr. President" belongs to nobody but everyone", the change of body language of President will energize every Nigerian to partake in the fight against insurgency and insecurity challenges facing the country.

“We are convinced that only a southeasterner breeds the magic wands to disassemble all the unpatriotic coalitions reaping the considerable budgetary allocation mapped out for security purposes by  ‘recycling insurgency’ we are unmistakable that Northern cartels are the major beneficiaries of these insecurity challenges and rebellion, if President Buhari is determined to end up the insecurity challenges confronting the Nation, he should break the spell and terrify those immoral elements pressurizing him to undermine the south and re appoint another Northerner for COAS, but definitely, the promising direction to re-assert himself as the people's President, is for Mr. President to ordain a Southern COAS".
