Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ali Modu Sherif, has dumped his party for the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Fresh Angle has learnt.
The former Borno State Governor, it was gathered is scheduled to be in Maiduguri later today for what a close associate of his, Inuwa Bwala, called “final consultations”
Bwala a former Information Commissioner under incumbent, Governor Shettima, told Pointblanknerws.com in a telephone conversation that Bornor Deputy Governor and several other chieftains are expected to join Modu Sheriff in the PDP
He said “We have left. We are moving with everyone that matters to the PDP, even his deputy Governor is with us, Governor Shettima is alone, he only has his wife with him”.
Modu Sheriff had expressed outrage after the APC convention when his group alleged that current chairman; John Oyegun was imposed on them by Bola Tinubu.
The Modu Sherriff group had prefered Tom Ikimi, but Ikimi was schemed out because Tinubu felt he would be too hot to handle.
Modu Sherriff, who had engaged Tinubu in a shouting match at a previous meeting, had declared that Tinubu would destroy the party with his dictatorial tendencies.
Pointblanknews.com also gathered that Bwala was dropped from the cabinet when the face-off between Governor Shetima and Modu Sheriff reached a head.
The Governor, it was learnt, became very uncomfortable with Bwala an influential young man, because of his closeness to the political rival, Modu Sheriff.
