The police in Delta State have arrested one Prince Joshia, an official of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogbonna Eleazer, one Dr. Nwabueze Ishmael and Veronica Kalaonu of Bayelsa State for purportedly tricking a woman, Favour Ifowe and her son, Ezra Obiri to an unknown destination with the intent of selling the son and allegedly planning to kill the mother by strangulation.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command, DSP. Celestina Kalu, men of the State Police Command led by DPO SP Uzochukwu Ugwuanyi swung into action after one Ifowe Justus of Dada Estate, Asaba on July 1 reported at GRA Police Station, Asaba that her sister, Favour Ifowe and her three years old son, Ezra were abducted by her boy friend, Prince Josiah, who is the prime suspect of the attempted child trafficking and murder.
The statement further disclosed that the team of police detectives led by the DPO SP Uzochukwu Ugwuanyi arrested the prime suspect and victim’s lover, Prince Joshia.
He purportedly confessed to the crime and led the police team to Isiala- Ngwa in Abia State where his cohorts: one Ogbonna Eleazer, a Civil Defence personnel attached to Abia Command, Dr. Nwabueze Ishmael and Veronica Kalaonu were arrested, while the stolen child was rescued.
Report says the suspects will soon be arraigned in court, even as efforts are in top gear to arrest other fleeing members whose name were mentioned in connection with the crime.
