The management of Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company, SEEPCO says it embarked on rural electricity and other projects in several coastal and riverine communities around the Ramos River, mid-stream of Bayelsa and Delta States, because the communities in the areas are not connected to the national grid, thus impacting negatively on the economy of the area.

According to Mr. Omaghomi, his company commissioned consultants to conduct a NEEDS assessment earlier in the year in conjunction with NAPIMS, a subsidiary of NNPC to ascertain the needs of people of its host communities before embarking on the projects.
He noted that SEEPCO has instituted sustainable approach to ensure that the communities put the projects into good use, stressing that the people of Agge have nominated technical operators that will work together with the manufacturers of the power plant installed in their community to ensure that the electricity project works effectively.
Speaking before commissioning the electrification, commercial passenger boats, town hall and radio house projects in Agge, Agedi Zion, Aghoro 1 and Aghoro 2 communities respectively, Vice President of SEEPCO, Chief Arvind Mahamuni explained that his company successfully executed the projects due to the enabling environment provided by the host communities.
