The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has debunked alleged killing of 230 Igbos in two luxury buses in the on-going, “ethnic skirmishes between Fulani and JOS citizens”, saying the speculation, “was craftily designed to escalate the Jos crisis into a National disaster”.
The Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, in an electronic statement sent to Fresh Angle International yesterday, Sunday August 29, noted: "We condemn vehemently, these futile attempts by unpatriotic entities and Satanic envoys to drag Ndigbo into the ethnic skirmishes between Fulani and JOS citizens, with evil intend targeted at the destruction of IGBO lives and properties".
The statement warned, “the fifth columnists” behind the speculation, “to desist from spreading unfounded stories capable of creating breeding grounds for chaos, provocative and genocidal carnages around the country”.
The apex Igbo group added: “We are too sophisticated and competent to be drafted into the quagmire. No luxury bus owners in JOS complained about loss of any bus or Igbo community in Jos confirmed the story and we urge Igbos to strictly adhere to the curfew imposed by the State Government and remain indoors.
“We appreciate the South-East Governors’ Forum for the rapid response to the cries of stranded Igbo students of UNIJOS, as the evacuation of them were in line with the spirit of ONYEAHALA NWANNEYA (Be my brother's keeper), Igbos in Jos are expected to continue to be peaceful and vigilant at all times”.
