Group lauds President’s aide
Elder Orubebe

A group, theNiger Delta Indigenous Movement for Radical Change, NDIMRC has lauded theChairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme and Special Assistant toPresident Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs, Hon Kingsley Kuku on the success ofthe Amnesty Programme.

The group has however threatened a "total war" against the Ministerof Petroleum and that of Niger Delta Affairs over what it described as their"total failure" in the administration of President Jonathan.

They warned that, "any moment from now, we will declare a total waragainst Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke and Elder Godsday Orubebe who are busybuying houses all over the world rather than developing their poor people inthe region, they should expect a mass revolt from the people of the region verysoon."

President of the group, Mr. Nelly Emma said in a statement that Hon. Kuku hascontributed greatly to the “success story” of President Jonathan ledadministration, but took the Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Maduekeand Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe to the cleaners, saying the two Ministers have failed the people of the region woefully.

According to the group; "Hon Kuku is a visionary leader who is lookingahead to a very peaceful Niger Delta region that will bring great benefit tothe Nigerian nation. He is one man working very closely with President Jonathanto ensure a very bright future for all Nigerians because without peace in theregion, there will be no peace in Nigeria as a whole."

The group also held that “The Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme,Hon. Kuku has been able to arrest the tide of violence in the oil-rich NigerDelta region and this has jerked up Nigerian oil production because todayex-militants are undergoing one training or the other all over of the world, while some that have completed their various trainings are fully engaged in ameaningful venture. “The amnesty programme under Hon. Kuku is working and wemake bold to say that we are proud of him because of the confidence he hasbrought to the administration of President Jonathan”, they opined.

The group noted thatthe success story of the Amnesty programme under Hon. Kuku has put an end todestruction of oil pipelines, protests and agitations and Nigeria had gained N1.9 million bpd. “Nigeria has beengaining not less than N34.3 billioneveryday as a result of the acceptance of amnesty by ex-militants and thededication of Hon. Kuku to the implementation of the Amnesty programme, ifothers who are from the region and in the administration of the President areworking like Hon. Kuku, President Jonathan would have recorded more successesthan he has done.”

The grouplambasted Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke and Elder Orubebe for bringing shame tothe people of the region as a result of “their failure” in the administrationof President Jonathan, accusing them of acquiring properties all over the worldrather than addressing the needs of their people.

They declared, “thePetroleum Minister and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs have failed the peopleof the region. Under the Petroleum Minister our people working in NNPC arebeing threatened with sack and retirement by those at the helm of affairs inthe organization. Under Mrs. Alison-Madueke, the oil majors are subverting theLocal Content at the expense of our hardworking indigenous contractors. Ourfindings have revealed that the Petroleum Minister apart from buying choiceproperties all over the world, is not also helping our local contractors thathave invested heavily in the Oil and Gas sector, instead she is supportingDaewoo, Acergy, O.P.I. and other foreign oil firms to get jobs that our peopleare supposed to pick up. The day of reckoning is coming for her soon. We are yet to see visible development in the regionunder Elder Orubebe. Up till now, no roads, hospitals, schools and others inthe region, yet we have somebody who is from the region as a Minister. Ourinvestigations have revealed too that Elder Orubebe is also buying properties inabroad and Abuja and also warming up to be a Governor in 2015, we are watching. The region is begging for urgent attention while our indigenous contractors arecrying for better deals in the Oil and Gas sector, yet the two servingMinisters from the region are not doing anything to help the situation. The twoMinisters are not looking for ways to support our people in jobs anddevelopment. This attitude is unacceptable and any moment from now, we willdeclare a total war against them. Mrs. Alison-Madueke and Elder Orubebe shouldexpect a mass revolt from the people of the region any moment from now and wewant to urge Hon. Kuku to continue his good work in the administration ofPresident Jonathan. ”
